Mamidikaya Pappu Recipe

Mamidikaya pappu is a tangy and spicy raw mango dal. This dish is packed with flavor and protein. It is easy to make and absolutely scrumptious.This is a very typical lentil dish made widely in summer when mangoes are in season.

Ingredients :

1.Toor Dal or Kandi Pappu 2 cups

2.Chana Dal or Senaga Pappu 1cups

3.Turmeric Powder 1/2tsp

4.Red Chilli Powder 1tsp

5.Chopped Onions 1/2cup

6.Cutted Green Chilli 6

7.Peel and Chopped Raw Mango 1cup

8.Water 3cups

9.Dired Red Chilli 2

10.Curry leaves 10leaves

11.Mustard Seeds 1/2tsp

12.Cumin Seeds 1/2tsp

13.Ghee or Oil 30ml


Method :

1.Wash toor dal and chana dal and add them into cooker .

2.Add 3cups of water ,1/2tsp turmeric powder and 1tsp red chilli powder into cooker.

3.Now add chopped onions , green chillis and chopped raw mango.

4.Close the cooker with cooker lid then keep it on high flame upto 6 whistles after         6whistles take out the cooker lid and mash it and keep a side.

For Tadaka:

1.Add oil or ghee in a pan heat it up.

2.Add mustard seeds , cumin seeds ,dired red chilli , green chilli and curry leaves into     pan and fry it and add into  pappu and mix well.

  Mamidikaya pappu is ready 

  Serve it in a bowl.
